Wow Jo, Thanks that is super helpful... not long until I go now and I am very excited. Just struggling with what to pack. Glad to be meeting up with a friend in Belgium who is gluten free and apparently found a pizza bar just down the road owned by a celiac couple... BRING ON THE PIZZA :)

Hi, traveling and eating gluten free around Europe is much easier in some places than others. I have Celiac Disease and I was away '07 '08 &'10 in Europe for about 6 or 7 weeks each time. First write 'Gluten Free' down in the language of the country that you are in and have it ready to show the waitress or chef. Switzerland has a good choice of GF options, especially their quick food, bratwurst or savaloi. Remember McDonald's salads, check the chicken though as it is not always GF in each country. You will find you eat a lot of salad with your cut of meat and it was because of that often I just popped into McDonald's it was quicker than going through the menu. Sushi is good and in most places, check ingredients though. Enjoy your trip. Thank God wine is GF.
